Elsewhere Sports Club

A private members’ club shaped by sporting excellence

As mixed-use developments become increasingly ambitious, developers are no longer simply delivering buildings, but branded lifestyle destinations with distinctive identities that attract residents, partners and investment. The challenge is to create a clear brand that gives meaning and coherence to an entire development, strengthening both its commercial appeal and long-term value through luxury property branding.

Elsewhere Sports Club was conceived as the sporting heart of the wider Safira masterplan in Alexandria. More than simply a private members’ club, it was envisioned as a destination where elite athletic performance, education and community would come together under a single property brand identity, reinforcing the wider vision for one of the Middle East’s most ambitious mixed-use developments.

Safira is the first gated community of its kind in Alexandria: 250 acres planned for around 3,000 families, with villas, twin houses and mansions held to a deliberately low residential density of about fifteen per cent of the land, alongside a British-curriculum school, a commercial district and swimmable lagoons. The club sits at its centre but operates through its own gate, open to residents and to members from across the city. It was taken to market ahead of the residential launch, so that the development’s first public expression was a brand people could already trust.

The opportunity was significant. Despite a population of around eight million, Alexandria has only two established sports clubs, while demand for academy places continues to exceed supply. The ambition was not simply to create another leisure facility, but to establish a credible sporting institution capable of attracting ambitious families, developing future athletes and setting a new benchmark for sports club branding in Egypt.

SUM’s role began with the strategic definition of the brand. We developed its positioning, brand concept and narrative before creating a visual identity built around the organising idea, ‘Where sporting excellence becomes a way of life’. The result positioned Elsewhere as a place where sporting achievement extends beyond competition to become part of everyday family life.

This vision was reinforced through a growing ecosystem of strategic partnerships. Alongside Brook House in the UK and BEFIT 360, these collaborations helped establish credibility from the outset while reflecting the long-term ambition to create one of Egypt’s leading environments for sporting development.

The visual identity expresses this balance through a contemporary heraldic crest, restrained typography and a palette of forest green, warm cream and aged brass that conveys quiet confidence rather than overt luxury.

Conceived as an umbrella identity, it was designed not only for Elsewhere Sports Club, but as a scalable system capable of supporting future sporting brands across subsequent Safira developments. The result is an approach to luxury real estate branding that creates lasting commercial value, and gives a development its most visible expression long before the first home is sold.
